Currency: Euro (€)            Population: 3.7 million            Price of Food: around £11 (restaurants – 3 course meal),

Famous For:
The Olympic Games, ancient monuments - the famous Parthenon & the Acropolis, its mythical ‘Greek Gods (Zeus, Apollo, Aphrodite and of course Hercules) and the National Archaeological Museum.

Useful Info:
Tap water is heavily chlorinated and fluoridated and supposedly safe to drink. Even having a shower in it, you can taste the chemicals, so drink bottled water.

Useless Info:
A driver’s licence can be taken away by law if the driver is deemed either "un-bathed" or "poorly dressed" - evidence that the fashion police really do exist!

Local Eats:
Traditional Greek "Fast Food" includes "souvlaki" which refers to shish kebab (pieces of pork grilled on a stick). You cannot come to Athens and leave without trying this delicious snack.
