Day 1 - Depart by coach to the airport. Catch a morning flight to Athens and arrive in time to spend time getting to know the area and enjoy a relaxing meal. Day 2 - Take a city tour by bus; take in the ancient crumbling past alongside the cosmopolitan, vibrant city of Athens today. Highlights of the day include Tomb of the un-known soldier, the Panathenian Stadium (where the first modern Olympic Games were held in 1896), Roman Temple of Olympian Zeus and Acropolis, and also visit the Acropolis museum. Day 3 - Take the Argolis full day trip including lunch. This is an opportunity to drive along the coastal road to the heart of heroic Greece, Mycenae – a sight to behold! Visit the remains of this ancient city including the lioness’s gate, the tomb of Agamemnon and the Palace. Back on your bus, journey through Argos to Nauplia for a traditional Greek lunch. Then onto Epidaurus. The Sanctuary of Asklepios in Epidaurus was one of the first centres for the study of medicine in the ancient world. Day 4 - Take a day trip including lunch to Delphi including a visit to perhaps the most famous site in classical Greece, the Sanctuary of Apollo. Day 5 - Time for breakfast before a morning departure home. |
