Overall rating
Pleasant, fairly quiet, very central. Breakfast was very welcome. Room was a bit damp smelling.

Pleasant part of town. Very central. Good helpful local advice form desk staff.

Its close to central Auckland and the staff are friendly but thats about all I can say about my stay as I wasn't impressed.
Hostel is located up a steep hill which is not what you need after a long flight. I had room with no bath - shared facilities very basic and not in good repair. Furniture in room old and shabby & again basic. Walls thin as could hear people in their rooms several doors away.

I had a ground floor room which was very clean and with ensuite, breakfast included in the price (cereal,fruit,bread/toast,preserves,juice,tea,coffee), able to make a hot drink from supplies in kitchen at any time. Staff very helpful and friendly,large dining room/kitchen/lounge. Situated at the top of a hill in a safe area of the city.

Auckland itself wasn't a favourite city of mine and Aspen House was not nice. The beds bowed in the middle, the rooms felt damp and cold.

Höchstens dass es ein kostenloses kontinentales Frühstück gab.. beim Internet (2 PC) waren noch Röhrenmonitore aus dem Museum
