Day 1, Blyde River Canyon, 3 Rondavels, Bourkes Luck Potholes, Shangaan Cultural Experience
Leaving behind Johannesburg we head through the scenic province of Mpumalanga. Along the way we will stop high on an escarpment to view the lowveld leading to the famous Kruger Nation Park. From here we can also see Blyde River Canyon and the 3 Rondavels, three ‘village hut’ shaped rock formations. This canyon is the third largest canyon in the world and we descend into it’s belly to discover the perfectly rounded ‘potholes’ formed by the Blyde River current after thousands of years of erosion. This afternoon we visit a Shagaan tribal village to learn, understand, sing and dance with the people of this fascinating culture. Our first night on safari is spent in the warmth of our village hosts hospitality. (Dinner included)
Day 2 - 3, Kruger National Park
We have an early breakfast before continuing to the world renowned Kruger National Park. South Africa’s flagship game park the ‘Kruger’ has over 2 million hectares of unrivalled diversity of life forms fused with historical and archaeological sights. With cameras and binoculars at the ready, we explore the untamed wilderness on game drives, and hopefully we will see some of the Big 5 - elephant, rhino, leopard, lion and buffalo. The Kruger is home to over 507 species of birds, 106 species of mammals and many reptiles. The impressive atmosphere of the park enables you to understand why it holds such a unique place amongst the world’s great game reserves. We spend two nights in a campsite within the park giving us nearly two whole days of game driving. A typical day would be going ‘on safari’ in the early morning, returning to our camp for lunch and going out again a several before sunset. Whilst in the park you have the option of going on a guided night drive to view nocturnal animals in their natural habitat.
(Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner included)
