STA and Operation Wallacae are offering the opportunity for you to spend part of your summer holiday working on exciting biodiversity research and conservation projects in Indonesia, Honduras, Egypt, South Africa, Cuba or Peru.
You can volunteer to join as a Research Assistant and piece together your own itinerary from the range of different projects available at each site. You'll get the opportunity to learn jungle or bush survival, DNA techniques, diving, and identification of reef species, giving you the knowledge you need to take part in research projects.
These could include:
Alternatively if you're in your penultimate year at university, you can use the opportunity to gather data for your Honours year dissertation. 60% of the students who do dissertations on this programme get Firsts for their projects and there are more than 50 different research topics available - so don't let your studies hold you back!
Expeditions run for 2, 4, 6 or 8 weeks, and range in cost from £950 for a 2 week expedition to £2800 for an 8 week expedition plus flights. However, most students don't pay these sums because there is a professional fundraising team available to help you raise the funds needed to join one of these expeditions.
