Legendary on the surf scene, Queensland is home to the Superbank which hosts the first event on the World Championship Tour. There are great surf beaches along the entire length of coast, ideal for beginners right through to those wanting serious waves. If you want to learn to surf, join the classes available at Surfers Paradise and Noosa.
If you're already an experienced rider of the blue stuff, the list of great surf beaches is endless. In Southern Queensland try Coolangatta, hang out with the Gold Coast locals in Kirra Beach, and head for serious waves in Burleigh Heads. From Caloundra to Mooloolaba, you’ll find popular breaks along virtually the entire shoreline of the Sunshine Coast. You can even surf off the Great Barrier Reef at Queensland’s most northerly surf beaches at Agnes Water and the Town of 1770 - but this is serious stuff and strictly for the experienced surfer.
