The residents of Hawaii seem to truly embody the surf attitude and lifestyle. The guitar strumming of one of the most famous Hawaiians, Jack Johnson, can often be heard lilting through the air. A Hawaiian through and through Jack was born on the North shore of Oahu and got his first surfboard at 5 years old.
The North Shore of Oahu – famous for the Banzai Pipeline – is a mecca for surfers, as is Maalaea on Maui, which is home to the fastest right hand break in the State. On Kauai, favourite spots for surfing include Poipu Beach, Shipwrecks Beach and Tunnels Beach.
