A Gap Year In The Cook Islands

Palm trees in Cook Island

sun and sand

The Cook Islands are a group of 15 islands in the heart of the South Pacific.

Each one is a natural phenomenon, surrounded a lagoon. In my opinion they are the most beautiful of all islands in the South Pacific and they are made unique by the friendly Polynesians that inhabit the islands.

Sunny lands, warm waters and laid back locals add to the ultimate paradise experience that is the Cook Islands. Each of these 15 islands, in the heart of the South Pacific, is a natural phenomenon surrounded by its own coral lagoon. Choose between relaxing on the beach, or snorkelling and making the most of the high visibility and varied marine life. For the more energetic there is the chance to explore the islands by bike, kayak or on foot. Raratonga's mountainous central jungle is ideal for hiking with a cooling waterfall dip on route. A short flight to Aitutaki offers breath-taking views and a chance to experience pure turquoise waters fringed by mile upon mile of soft white sands and palm trees. Highlights include a lagoon cruise around uninhabited islands where lunch is a picnic of fresh fruit and fish picked and caught that day. Evenings are spent enjoying cocktails on the beach as the sun sets, then heading to a local island night to experience the true taste and dance of the islands. The locals enjoy nothing more than encouraging the dancing attempts of the visitors and before you know it you'll be dancing the night away, the perfect end to a day in paradise!
