Looking at photos of the pyramids never prepares you for the real thing, I just stared open mouthed as our guide took us through the ancient history surrounding the Egyptian civilisation. But it's not just a fascinating history that makes Egypt my number one destination. We spent 3 days living on a Felucca sail boat drifting through the lush Nile Valley, we rode on donkeys to the valleys of the Kings, climbed to the top of Mount Sinai for sunrise and spent 3 days trekking through the desert sleeping under the stars. Our last stop was in chilled out Dahab where I got to experience some of the best diving and snorkelling in the world - The Red Sea. Egypt has something to offer everyone. The good thing is it's very accessible and cheap to get to from the UK and yet has a very unique and different culture to anything you will find within Europe - also it's hot all year round! What more could you ask for? Chris Hardy - Edinburgh branch
