Community

Our Tanzania community projects are based around local primary schools including Mbokomu School and Kidia School. You will walk to and from school with the kids who are predominantly from the local Chagga tribe. There are years of sustainable project work to do at the schools, starting in Mbokomu with the construction of a new school canteen for the 800+ students. The work will vary, but you should get the chance to teach basic lessons and assist in the classrooms, play sports after school, renovate the dilapidated school buildings, construct classroom furniture and plant trees for future resources.

Wildlife

Northern Tanzania provides a backdrop for possibly the best safari experience in Africa. On completion of your community phase, you’ll be taken on a camping safari to a variety of National Parks. On both the 2 and 3 month programmes you will also spend time at Camp Miti Mirefu or Camp Twiga in East Africa where you may be involved in game counts and census and species identification of animals. Other activities include digging waterholes, removal of non indigenous crops such as Mexican Poppies, establishing ranch clean up programmes and managing human wildlife conflict issues.

Ocean (2 & 3 month only)

Camping is not permitted in Zanzibar, so you’ll have to make do with a comfy bed and a mixture of hotels and beach bungalows. Whilst we have included the basics like somewhere to sleep and some ‘must do’ experiences like snorkelling with dolphins and a spice tour; this is essentially a chance for you to chill out and live it up on the beaches. You’ll start in Stone Town, a mix of African and Arab culture, before you head off to Nungwi or Paje - both of which can only be described as beaches of paradise.

Add an adventure

A wildlife safari is included on all programmes, but if you want to spice up your time in Africa further, then check out these optional adventures. You can add these on to any of our programmes and we are happy to help organise transfers to get you there (additional cost).

Zanzibar - 10 days fr £275
Included in 2 & 3 month Camp Tanzania
Wander the alleyways of Stone Town, snorkel in
the Indian Ocean, search for wild dolphins or just
chill-out on the beaches at Paje. Spice tour and
bed and breakfast included throughout.

Kilimanjaro - 9 days fr £1,495
Kilimanjaro is the tallest mountain in Africa -
it presents a formidable challenge to all who
attempt to climb it. Includes a night in Camp
Mbokomu before and after the trek.

Mt. Kenya - 7 days fr £750
Take on Kenya’s highest peak and experience
the exhilaration of trekking the second highest
mountain in Africa. Includes a night in a comfy
Kenyan Lodge before and after the climb.

Mt. Meru - 6 days fr £725
Mt Meru is renowned as one of Africa’s toughest
treks. The mountain itself stunningly stands tall
above the town of Arusha. Includes a night in
Camp Mbokomu before and after the trek.
