What is RSS

RSS Overview

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a great way of receiving updated data from your favourite websites, making sure you're kept updated with the latest information online. It is used by news websites, like the BBC and Sky News, to give up-to-date news stories as they happen.

STA Travel uses this technology to update you with the latest product offers as they arrive throughout the day, making sure you’re among the first to know about any product offers, including flights and prices.

How can I receive RSS feeds?

There are three main ways in which you can receive RSS feeds.

rss button

1. Download a piece of software called a 'News Reader'. These are available for all computers (many are free) and once downloaded they allow you to easily receive RSS information from websites that offer the service. Just Drag the RSS icon (above right) to your reader to start getting top offers.

Live Bookmark

2. Some of the newer web-browsers have RSS built-in. For example Firefox is a browser that will display the live bookmark icon in the bottom-right corner of the window whenever the page has an RSS service. Your browser might also display this icon in the web address bar as shown right. Just click this icon to add your RSS feed in your favourites. (Also called Live Bookmarks).

rss chicklets

3. Just click the Google, Yahoo or MSN feed buttons (right) – also known as chicklets, which derived its name from the chewing gum "Chicklets". A chicklet is a specially coded button that contains the RSS or Atom feed information. Clicking on a chicklet makes it easy for visitors to include our offers on your personalised web pages. Give it a try – you can always remove this if you no longer require the offers.

We hope by offering this service you don’t miss out on any of our great offers.
