I didn't really like it. My first impression was awful, arriving in the early hours, the promised lift at the airport never having materialised, and being put in an annex which smelled of poo and sick. The second night was better. The rooms in the main building are quite cheerful and clean. I didn't fancy eating anything, although my friend did and said it was very nice.

A little bit of a sanctuary in a busy city!

Hotel Ajanta was clean, and with rooms of a suitable size. Only thing I can think could be improved would be the price, given that the rooms (that we stayed in at least) didn't have air conditioning. Delhi is a bit of a baffling city from what we saw, but it's located down some nice little streets that are interesting to wander along once you've got used to all the noise and traffic! We'd highly recommend Karen Cafe Rooftop Restaurant, which is less than 5 minutes walk away, turning left out of the hotel it'll be signposted on your right. It's a delightful little place which seemed to be run by a small family - service was personal and pleasant, and the food delightful and cheap! Hotel Ajanta also offered tours / taxi drivers who could show you around. I'd recommend making a note from the English-speaking hotel staff as to which places you'd like to visit before piling into a cab, as our driver seemed to run out of steam a little after the first 3/4!

Hotel Ajanta was very nice with a internet cafe, restaurant and clean rooms a great place to start in Dehli and help you to adjust. On arrival we were welcomed by the owner Mrs Ravi, she helped us book the rest our trip in India. The trip was great and we saw so much we would never of seen without her help, may temples, excursions and amazing sights. Everywhere we stayed that she had organised was reallly nice!Be carefull though you make sure you get what you pay for.

Completely Overpriced

There's wasn't much to like about this hotel. The room was completely overpriced for what it was. I paid GBP25 a night to stay here, and yet I was still charged what was called a 'nominal' fee, for taking a Snickers and a can of Coke from the 'mini-bar'. I also had to pay for my breakfast. The staff were pushy, arranging taxis and train tickets for me, and then adding ridiculous comission on top. The room was painted black, and had no windows. The only good things about the room were that it had air-conditioning, and a private bathroom. I have stayed in rooms for Rs600, that were nicer than this. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, and I was surprised and disappointed that STA recommended it to me.

The travel agent at the hotel was very helpfull and helped us to book train tickets and plan our journey. This was usefull since we were 'fresh off the boat', and the guidance was much apreciated. In true Indian style though he did get a bit push with his ideas for our itinerary, and we had to hold firm. Could have found cheaper accom though with the same facitlties.

The staff where really helpful from the moment i got to the hotel, they sorted everthing from free sightseeing in Delhi to sorting out the golden triangle 900km trip, I also got free pick up and drop off for the airport. They really looked after me and sorted out the best price plans for my trip.
