After staying for so long in hostels Regal Oriental was a welcome change. For only a little more money than we would have paid for a dorm we got a twin room on the top floor with ensuite. Fantastic. The hotel was clean and the staff courteous and helpful. It is a little way out from Hong Kong island but there is a minibus to the local MTR station and transport prices are ridiculously cheap.

Great view of the old airport from the bar on the 7th floor, with birds of prey circling over what is a huge undeveloped building site. The garden on the site of the old city is worth a visit. A nice hotel but the surrounding area is populated with ageing tower blocks but with nice gardens at ground level. the locals were very friendly and helpful with directions. We did not have enought time or energy to explore too far but not a location we want to return to.
If you stay there the hotel has a desk outside the airport No 14 from memory who organise the shuttle bus or as in our case put you on a local bus as it is quicker. it takes about 45 minutes but there were no announcements on the bus and the electronic indicator on board was not working, so where you get off was a challenge!
Good Hotel but Poor Location

The hotel is well appointed with good facilities but it is located an hour by hotel bus from the airport and it needs a bus/taxi plus metro journey to get to the markets and harbour area.
