A refugee camp for alcoholics

There is nothing good to say about this place. The staff had no clue what was going on or how anything worked. Most likely due to the massive abundance of bad beer and weed. The facilities were filthy and I never once saw a cleaner.

The building is very cool, the free pancakes for breakfast are great and the location in St Kilda is good.

Staff will help you out with anything you can imagine. Location is great. Only minor thing about the location is, it is close to the streets where escort girls are working. Might meet some interesting people... Nice friendly guests. Had a great time and extended my stay.

Seriously it sounds very funny but i can tell u the coffeepalace is the best hostel/backpackers i've been to and i was in 5 backpackers. the others are good as well but i feel very comfi at the moment in the coffeepalace. Nice people...party..but not too much...and again: NICE PEOPLE LIKE NICE NICE! So i can tell u that but seriously i'm not working here its just that i want to let u all know that u will be okay here in our hostel. so when u feeling wrong whereever u are we care for u and like the ozzis would say: WE LOOK AFTER U! So come all here and lets rock...but not too much;-)

The christmas lunch was the best ever. For $10 we got the most amazing christmas meal on christmas day. We had only been there a few days but were made welcome by the staff and guests. It's in an old building so the facilities are nothing like a Base but they make up for it in many other ways. It was a great place to stay over Christmas and New Year. We will be back before we leave the country.

"Party atmosphere in a perfect location"

EVERYTHING!! Ideally located within staggering distance of bars and nightclubs! Less than 100m from supermarkets and shops, the Coffee Palace is perfect. You get a warm welcome on arrival, usually from one of your fellow guests, most of whom help out around the place with the day to day running (usually in exchange for free night stays). Antony, the boss, is flexible and willing to accept long stays too, so you feel at home straight away, especially with the family like atmosphere inside.

The staff were always ready help and it's a great place to find work. St Kilda is a lovely location and only a short tram ride away from the city centre. Made lots of friends as they have different activities every day!
