Nomads Cairns
This ‘Flashpacker’ hostel is a true backpackers resort, with a huge outdoor tropical pool, beach volleyball area, restaurant and bar. It boasts wireless internet and plenty of outdoor lounges and the town centre is a short stroll along the promenade.

Not a great place for short-term staying

The White water rafting on the Tully, collected and dropped to the door - booked through STA...this is a must. Nothing good to say about the hostel apart from it had small lockers for valuables if you have your own padlocks

Great evening entertainment going on, shocking weather throughout our stay but cheap evenings and great fun

Walking to to town along the esplanade but if you feel lazy there are also regular free shuttle buses.

The pool, bar and big-bed-sofa-tv area were the highlights, but the room/location was a big disappointment for me. The ensuite bathroom had no door, and with the airport so close there was a lot of airplane noise. A free bus takes you to the centre, which is too far to walk really. Plenty of other places more central - I wouldn't bother with this one again.
