• Darwin Beer Can Regatta - August
• V8 Supercars Championship series, Darwin - June
• The Tiwi Islands Football Grand Final and Art Sale on Bathurst Island in March - the biggest event of the year for the football-loving Tiwi people
• The five-day Garma Festival in Arnhem Land - a cultural celebration of the Yolngu people with ceremonial performances, internationally acclaimed artists of the region and cultural classes. Held in August
• The quirky Henley-On-Todd Regatta in Alice Springs, where teams race bottomless boats on the dry Todd River bed in September
• The Camel Cup is a hilarious day of camel races and novelty events like rickshaw races a game of camel polo
• Desert Mob in Alice Springs - an annual exhibition in September and October displaying works by Aboriginal artists living and working in remote areas of the Northern Territory. Visitors can view and purchase art works
• The Darwin Festival, a celebration of live performance and music every August.
