About this project
The Playa Matapalo Sea Turtle Project is a conservation programme created to protect sea turtles, their nests and their hatchlings on Matapalo Beach. Using a man-made shelter called a “vivero” to protect the eggs.

Itinerary
| Day 1: San José | Arrive at any time. |
| Day 2-14: Sea Turtle Conservation Project |
Two weeks of volunteer activities including night patrols along the beach, data collection, beach clean-up and area maintenance, monitoring of the baby turtle hatchery, counting baby turtles and releasing them – depending on the season. There is also the option to visit Manuel Antonio National Park. |
| Days 15-17: La Fortuna / Arenal | You have the option to try rafting, waterfall rappelling, to hike around the base of Arenal. Volcano or soak in hot springs. |
| Days 18-19: Rara Avis | Enjoy a guided nature trail walk through primary rainforest, visits to a butterfly farm and two spectacular waterfalls. You will also have the option to climb up to a viewing platform in the canopy, some 30m (100 ft) above the jungle floor! |
| Days 20-21: San José | Return to San José and spend your last night in the city before departing. |
