Hockey has not received as much attention as rugby, cricket and football in South Africa and a lack of resources can be a major obstacle for young players who are keen to get involved. Our hockey coaching placements are designed to make the sport more accessible and your role will include organising training and matches for a team of players, as well as skills clinics and team building sessions. Your experience and knowledge of the game is invaluable to the young people you will coach who are desperate to improve their ability and confidence. A fun and supportive environment will allow them to grow into competent athletes and their constant development is very rewarding. No previous coaching experience is necessary because coaching takes place at a grassroots level and your aim is not to fine tune South Africa’s next big star but to teach young players basic skills such as passing, dribbling and tackling, in an effort to harness their natural ability and passion for hockey |
