Teaching Children in Cambodia

  • 14Day(s)
  • Trip Code: STCAMCHI

New Hope Cambodia is based in one of the poorest slum areas on the outskirts of Siem Reap. This project aims to restore home and dignity to these once proud and prosperous communities by providing free education, healthcare and vocational training. Project hours will vary from half to full days, where you'll support Khmer teachers to assist with English, maths, sewing, and computer lessons.

Day 1: Arrival

Arrive at Siem Reap Airport and transfer to your guesthouse where you can get settled and meet the team at New Hope. As the guesthouse is based off site from the project, you will be given your very own bicycle to pedal in each morning, this will then be gifted to a local child when you leave.

Day 2 - 13: New Hope Volunteering Project

During your time at the New Hope Project, you'll volunteer in morning or afternoon classes, or if you're super keen you can always do both! You will be working alongside local Khmer teachers and other volunteer staff providing education and training in English, maths, morality, computers, sewing and more. There's also an outreach and medical centre where you can assist with cases of domestic violence, housing issues, and health issues. After a busy working week you have the weekends free to do what you want. Explore the magical temples of Angkor, visit Floating Villages, take Khmer cooking classes or shop till you drop in local markets.

Day 14: Departure

Today you'll say goodbye to New Hope and all your new friends.
