Things to do in Belize

This small island is as easygoing as they come. It's the epitome of island life - white sand beaches fringed with palm trees, amazing diving and snorkelling sites on the Belize Barrier Reef, plus an abudance of wildlife and forest. Be sure to check out the split, where the island is separated by a long beach and a bar.

Great Blue Hole
A bucketlist destination if ever there was one, the mysterious Great Blue Hole is a giant sinkhole off the coast of Belize. The UNESCO World Heritage Site is 450 feet deep, and is full of interesting rock formations that attract divers every day, not to mention the hammerhead sharks and other marine life swimming around. A thrilling day trip from the mainland!

Right in the heart of Cayo, this vibrant and lively town is where international travellers come to hang out because of it's contagiously happy local vibe and decent budget accommodation. If you want to check out something incredible, visit the Green Iguana Conservation Project or go and soak up the local exhibits at the House of Culture.

If you're looking for more of a beachy destination, then head over to cute and charming San Pedro. Once you've spent the day diving with parrotfish, or snorkelling in Shark Ray Alley, head back to the town for some tasty seafood and a drink in one of the beach bars.

Getting to Belize and around

What should you pack for a trip to Belize?

Belize is full of diversity so it depends what you're up to! Headed for Caye Caulker? Then ditch those shoes for a start and grab your swimwear, sandals, loose and cool clothing (it gets hot hot hot) ,sun lotion and insect repellant. If you're feeling a trek in the jungle then bring along some long trousers and sturdy walking shoes too. When rainy season hits, it's worth having a light rain coat or umbrella to hand, so you can explore whatever the weather. 

Is Belize safe to travel?

The islands, ruins and other tourist hot spots are geared towards foreign visitors and the locals are incredibly friendly and accommodating. Some places in Belize city are deemed unsafe so to be extra careful, keep on the roads a little more travelled! As in most foreign destinations take basic precautions, don't go flashing the cash and waving around that brand new iphone7 no one likes a show off.
