Our Travel Photographers’ Final Set Of Weekly Photos

So this is it, the final week of our travel photographers’ favourite photos (sob). Ness, Dan and Louis are all back in the UK safe and sound, after their awesome trips to gather images for our 2012/2013 Europe and Asia brochures.

Over the past 4 weeks we’ve been presenting the fruits of their labour and this week they share their final choices of favourite photos from their time away.

Which has been your overall favourtie from weeks 1, 2, 3 and 4?

Our student/graduate travel photographers, Ness, Louis and Dan.

The Final Photos From Our Travel Photographers

Ness’ Final Photo

Ness' photo of the famous canals of Venice

What/who is the photo of?

One of the many canals in beautiful Venice

Why is it your personal favourite this week?

The beautiful blue light from the water bounced off the buildings and created a serene atmosphere, and as the afternoon sun peaks round the corner at the end of the canal, this warm light contrasts with the blue tones from the rest of the picture. Also the gondola men seem to be in no rush at all adding to the holiday vibe!

If you have enjoyed keeping up to date on Ness’ travels as much as we have, and have loved her pictures, you can continue to see more of her work on her blog.

Louis’ Last Cut

Tibetan monks taking part in that age old traveller tradition; airport snoozing

What/who is the photo of?

A group of Tibetan monks sleeping before a flight in the departure lounge of Hong Kong International Airport.

Why is it your personal favourite this week?

There were so many photos I wanted to submit as my final image of the week and I was struggling to make a decision, it was something I was still thinking about as I walked to my departure gate at Hong Kong International.

As I did, I saw the four young monks asleep on the bench, resting on each others shoulders. It was a sweet moment, and as I walked by I took a photo and boarded my flight home. It was the last photograph of my trip, so it seemed only right that it should be the last ‘photograph of the week’.

Dan’s 4th Image

Dan's favourite image of the week taken whist hanging out in Prague train station

What/who is the photo of?

A couple of travellers, one with a backpack and bag; the other with backpack and dog in tow.
I took it on the morning of my departure from Prague train station, heading for Vienna.

Why is it your personal favourite this week?

It was the cute dog that caught my attention initially as I wandered down the platform. The sun was shining and the light had that nice, hazy, morning glow. I stopped and crouched down on the other side of the platform. The dog is an integral part of the composition of the photo so I think it’s nice to try and get the “eye level” of the image down a bit so you’re between head height and the dog (oops – it appears to be “bum height” in this instance but is not required for ALL photos ladies and gents!).

I really like the echo of the lead of the dog from the hand of the traveller on the right and the bag strap of the traveller on the left that are both at the same angle. The image has quite a formal structure, the focal point is in the centre (figure with purple backpack) with balanced subjects either side (the dog and the other backpacker). These are linked by the lines from the ironwork of the windows in the background arching between the figures and the vertical supports of the station building. Quite simple, but effective.

So that’s it, thanks loads to Ness, Dan and Louis for their hard work and keep yopur eyes peeled for their favourite images in our new brochures, which will be out early next year. In the mean time you can pick up copies of our current brochures from one of our stores or download them straight to your computer.
