Have you ever suffered from the age old ‘what to pack?’ dilemma while preparing for a trip you’ve been looking forward to for ages? Mediating between the sensible side of your brain that knows you probably shouldn’t take too much vs the side that want’s to bring almost everything ‘just in case’?
As an eclectic city, with such a huge variety of cool and interesting things to do and see, and an array of sassy dressers on every street corner, it’s natural that packing for a trip to Los Angeles could pose a that very problem. So allow me to help you out.
As arguably the worldwide home of style, glamour and beautiful people, L.A. is the place to see and be seen.
Luckily for us, our friends at fashion retailer Forever 21 — whose head office is based in sunny L.A. (nope we’re not jealous at all) — are locals and fashion experts, so I can think of no better people to give us lot back here in blighty, the low down on the must-go places for fashionistas as well as their tips on what to wear on the scene.
Travel Tips for L.A. by Forever 21
Hang Out in Hollywood
When you think of movie star glamour, Hollywood is probably the first place that comes to mind. The Walk of Fame and the Hollywood sign maybe must-sees by day, but places like Avalon and Supperclub are great places to let your hair down and enjoy some great music once the sun sets.
For a glam night out in Hollywood, pair a collared-flowy blouse with tailored shorts, a bright blazer, and ankle boots for that perfect day-to-night polished look with a bit of edge. You’ll fit right in but still stand out by looking absolutely fabulous!
Cruise through Santa Monica
What would L.A. be without a trip to the beach? Rent a bike to check out the Santa Monica Pier or dish out some of your travelling funds on a shopping spree at the 3rd Street Promenade.
When the sun goes down, cruise to Venice’s Abbot Kinney Blvd for the best of Venice’s art galleries and restaurants. A day or night in either Santa Monica or Venice needs a too-cool-for-school hippy-biker look so try layering a graphic tee with a moto jacket and feather-trimmed fedora and take a walk on the wild side.
Hit Downtown L.A.
Home to the trendiest restaurants and art museums, downtown is pretty much Los Angeles’ cultural hub so really shouldn’t be missed. A day trip to the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) is a necessity, as is catching a baseball game at Dodger Stadium (we’re not gonna lie, we go just for the hot dogs!).
By nightfall, try a famous French Dip sandwich from Cole’s and take in the amazing skyline view from rooftop hotspot Perch. Downtown deserves a hipper-than-hip outfit so print leggings, buckled ankle boots, and a bowler cap are the way to go.
