17 Adventure Tours Under £800

It’s a well worn myth that you need to empty your purse into a black hole in order to really see the world. Yes, if you want to spend 10 months flying to 12 countries it is going to cost a bit (though not quite as much as you might think), but you’d be genuinely surprised how much you can see of the world in less than 2 weeks on a budget.

It’s important to remember that the prices below don’t include international flights so you will need to budget for those as well as some meals and optional activities. But with transport, accommodation & loads of other inclusions, these adventures represent a big chunk of your trip budget. They’re also all small group experiences (most with an average of 14 people) so you can really get off the beaten track and into areas it’s very hard to reach solo.

Oh dear, this article should come with a disclaimer “If you’re over 40 prepare to be disappointed as 11 out of the 17 trips are not open to you”. As a freelancer in the Arts (and therefore on a tight budget) I eagerly clicked on this link to seek inspiration for my next trip. However, it seems people over 40 are considered too old to want budget trips and wish to only travel in luxury. Ah well.

      Hi Molly,

I’m really sorry that you were disappointed when you clicked through – the trips mentioned are just a selection and out of the 178 trips that are currently under £800 114 are open to all ages: http://sta.travel/1BPobGb
I definitely take your point however and in any future lists I’ll make a point of trying to strike the balance more successfully than I have here.

      Kind regards,
      Anna

  2. I think this article is awesome! Me and me boyfriend are Film graduates- so finding a job is proving a lot more difficult than planned and it’s a choice out of traveling or saving up for our own place. Thanks to this article though, it would seem that both are possibly! As I’m on break at work writing this too- Thanks for keeping me hopeful!! :)

Hmm, in my book (and the Oxford dictionary) adventure means to run the risk, make the experiment, dare; to go so far as, to venture.

Although the meaning may differ person to person, and this may be somewhat of a generalisation, I would dare to suggest that booking an organised and dotted out tour including food and activities strays away somewhat from the original concept of adventure?

In addition, you can do each of these trips for much (much) less money if you do not book them as a pre-determined tour with an agent.

So all in all, while the article is admittedly inspirational, I am very sceptical.
