This week’s blog comes from our very own Aussie social media guru… Alice Tolson! She’s here to tell us about the best foodie spots in her home away from home, Noosa.
Noosa, is a foodie’s dream destination and makes for a chilled-out stop along the buzzing sunshine coast. I would pretty much call Noosa my second home. I spent majority of my summer and September holidays as a kid trolling along Hastings Street and having a love/hate relationship with the steps to Upper Hastings Street. But more importantly, I fell in love with the food at Noosa and that’s what keeps me coming back every year. So here are my go to places:
This is the perfect place to start your night out with be it a couple of mates or just you and your partner in crime. Doesn’t matter if you are coming straight from the beach or finding a cute place to have a drink before you feast at one of Noosa’s amazing restaurants. It’s got that real modern American bar feel, like they serve tater tots (potato gems) how cool is that. Instantly cures those munchies. They’ve got ample beer selections to match your taste buds as well as some awesome cocktails.
Betty’s Burger & Concrete & Co
I’ve got no idea who Betty is, but if she is reading this I want to say those burgers are the juiciest and most delicious burgers I’ve ever tasted. If you are familiar with Shake Shack in the States, then you’ll know that these burgers are hands down the best things ever. Think fat patties, on soft buns with some lettuce – none of that fancy stuff. You also better leave room for dessert, because this is honestly going to blow your mind! Concrete is a dessert combo of ice cream, custard and chunky mix ins. Like it’s just heaven, you ain’t gonna taste anything like it.
You’ve got two options when you hit up Ricky’s. You can go fancy smancy or keep it casual. When keeping it casual, you are heading next door to Ricky’s little sister Wood Fire Grill. The grill never fails to deliver on the steak front, add some chilli salt fries and you’ll be in steak & chips heaven. I’ll let you in a on a secret, it’s the reason I come back to Noosa ever year. If you are feeling like treating yourself, you will not be disappointed with Ricky’s modern Australian cuisine.
Just a short drive along the river into Noosa Sound, or a cute little sunset walk by the river. It’s been serving up the best modern Japanese in Queensland for a while now, but it is without a doubt a favourite. It took home Regional Restaurant of the Year in 2015, so come on it’s got to be pretty good right? You even shave your own wasabi, and it’s so delicious. Not hot at all. And if you fall in love with the food, they even offer cooking classes.
Enough of this savoury stuff, I’ve got just the place for all the sweet tooths who are reading this.
This is the ice cream king of Noosa. Massimo’s has been there for decades, and is definitely a locals favourite. It’s not unusual to find a queue waiting in line as it’s regarded as the ‘best gelato out of Italy’, so stick in that queue and just wait for the first taste of deliciousness.
So there you have it, my top 5 places you can’t miss when you stop off at Noosa.
