STA Travel Blog

KYKO – STA Travel Sounds artist of the month

The music scene in London just keeps better! The capital is heaving with so many exciting young artists, KYKO included. South London-born and raised Verrill, a multi-instrumentalist with a feverish passion for experimenting, has been crafting noise since reaching his teens. Raised in a household rife with the sounds of Paul Simon and British bands like The Jam, Verrill strives to combine his musical background with his passion for modern pop music and it’s ever-evolving form.

When we first heard KYKO’s music we loved his sound so much that we invited him to play at the STA Travel Sounds stage at this years Bestival festival.

KYKO is here to test the limits of pop. Born from a desire to move away from the confines of standard ‘singer-songwriter’ conventions and connotations, Scott Verrill, the 20-year-old talent behind the project, looks to forge his own path in the world.

KYKO’s London Tips

WHERE TO EAT: Patty & Bun

Patty & Bun has a big reputation for serving some of London’s best burgers. If you don’t believe us, then the all-day queues will back up our point. Yes, the queues can be long but it’s so worth it. Try their signature ‘ari gold’ burger – a winning combination of smokey mayo, ketchup and a patty in a brioche bun. NOM!

Where to find it: James Street, Liverpool Street, London Fields, Old Compton Street, Redchurch Street and Goodge Street

WHERE TO DRINK: Northcote Records

If you’re looking for a party, head to Northcote Records in Clapham. With a reputation for throwing up rock n roll house party vibes and offering delcious pizzas at a bargain price of £6, this is one bar in London you need to check out. Tip: make sure to get there before 10am to avoid queues!

Where to find it: 8-10 Northcote Rd

WHERE TO ENJOY LIVE MUSIC: Tooting Tram and Social

Tooting Tram and Social is quite elusive but once you find it, it will become your new go to place. Keep your eye on the music listings as Tram and Social are very quick on booking upcoming talent. So you may find yourself watching the next big band in a very intimate setting.

Where to find it: 46-48 Mitcham Rd
