Ask the Experts: Where shall I spend summer?

This week’s question to the pannellist was wholly unexpected, and required our Experts to think a little more outside the box. But could they deliver?

As always, if you want to see your question posed to the panel, you can email the Experts your question for them to consider. You never know, you could find it featured right here on the STA Travel Blog in the near future!

So, back to this week’s conundrum, brought to you by Ash from Gloucester.

I have 10 weeks off in the summer (I work in a college), but before you think I’m old, I’m only 23! I’m looking to spend my summer abroad somewhere, but on a tight budget. I’m hoping to leave around the 21 June, and return by the end of August. I wouldn’t mind a beach holiday in Thailand somewhere, as I have never been, or something which incorporates some sort of safari? What can you recommend? Ash from Gloucester

10 weeks off over the summer! That’s the perfect gig to blend your travel ambitions.

But with such a wide variety on offer in Thailand, and safaris on offer throughout the world, can our Experts conjure up something special for Ash, and make his summer one to remember? Let’s find out…

21 Amazing Travel Experiences

We’re not getting any younger. In the time it took you to read this opening couple of lines, you’re already two seconds older. Three, two, one. Now you’re five seconds older. So, with life whizzing by at such a pace, it’s time to make some plans. The kind of plans that will act like rungs on a ladder, allowing you to clamber through the world with a kick in your step.

Ask the Experts: What’s the inside track on Indonesia?

This week our Ask the Experts panellists have got a real challenge on their hands, with the task of unfurling a journey to Indonesia, one of the world’s most diverse and complex countries.

Remember, if you have a burning question, simply email the panellists with your question and you could find it featured in a future edition of Ask the Experts! If things are a little more urgent, you can find these three and plenty more experts in your local STA Travel store.

Craig from Newport in South Wales did just that, with a question about his upcoming travel to Indonesia. Buckle up, here’s Craig’s question:

I’m interested in visiting Indonesia next year, what are the highlights, and how easy is it to travel between them? Craig in Newport

It’s pretty vague; but our Experts are used to going in blind and pulling out the goods. Let’s see how they get on this week…

Shakedown, Hanoi

This week, we’re taking a look at Vietnam’s bustling capital, Hanoi. Nestled in the north of the country, the City of the Soaring Dragon is where French-colonialism meets modern Vietnam.

It may be smaller than its southern sister, Ho Chi Minh City, but what Hanoi lacks in size, it makes up for in charm and culture. Thirsty for more? Take a deep breath, jump on board, and get ready to dodge the motorbikes – we’re goin’ to Hanoi!

Who wants to be a Millionaire?

£1 will buy you around 32,000 Vietnamese dong, so you really will be a millionaire in Hanoi. As well as dong, take some US dollars too — despite the Vietnamese government’s attempts to phase them out, they’re still widely accepted.
