Top Tips For InterRailing Around Europe

All aboard! We think InterRailing through Europe is the perfect trip for first time travellers. Nothing can beat the sense of freedom you get from packing up your backpack and heading off on a journey where you can go anywhere and do anything you want – when you want, through the relative closeness and familiarity of Europe.

InterRail passes were born from this very notion. Travel at your own pace while weaving between town and country and prepare for an authentic feeling of adventure as you wrestle with your map and your desire to see everything there is to see – whether you’re on a 2week or 6 month trip.

There’s something exciting about travelling by train, it’s got more character; there’s an alluring romanticism about it. We’re big fans of InterRail as a way to explore all the wonders and variety European culture has to offer.

Our aim is to draw on some snippets of golden advice from those who have ‘been there’ and ‘done that’ and pass it on to you guys to help make your InterRail trip run super smoothly.

Our Favourite Random Music From Around The World

There are so many reasons why we love to travel; meeting interesting new people, tasting exotic food and immersing ourselves in different cultures and traditions being just the core few.

But wherever you go in the world you’ll find one big influence uniting societies – a genuine love of music. Whether you’re sitting around a camp fire deep in the hills of Chiang Mai listening to a farmer play a home made guitar, waving your hands in the air like you just don’t care at a festival in Serbia or dancing the samba in a backstreet club in Rio, you’ll see that music is enjoyed by everyone from all over.

We’ve dug out our favourite clips of some pretty random but utterly entertaining popular music from around the world – each one ‘special’ in its own way. Enjoy.

What music from the list below most makes you want to dance?

How would you travel round Europe?

As soon as the clocks go back, and the sun breaks free of the low wintry clouds, and our stores open up for the day; we are bowled over by a stream of travel-starved people, with one thing on their minds: summer. And in particularly: Europe.

They want to know everything: from the best known places, to the trendiest, the cheapest, the sunniest, and the best.

And we impart all of our travel expertise; and we hand over their itineraries; and we quite often hear from these people as they’re travelling around Europe, soaking up the cultures and vibes that ebb and flow through the cities and villages of the world’s boldest, and most visited continent. And they love it!

So to get a headstart, I had a chat with one of STA Travel’s very own Product Managers, Laura.

Laura’s part of a team who are responsible for sourcing the most exciting experiences in the places you want to visit. This is one of the many reasons we can offer you such a wide variety of adventures, in places all around the world. But where would Laura recommend? I caught up with her to find out.

Wave your phones in the air if you love getting into the thick of the live action at a massive music festival!

Music and travel are pretty much the perfect trouble, throw in food and we’ve got ourselves a tasty love triangle. Knowing that, we’ve turned our gaze towards this year’s incredible line up of music festivals, both across the UK, and further out to Europe.

This is by no means an exhaustive list; there are smaller festivals stamping their mark on the circuit, and gigs galore rolling through the UK.

To kick things off, and get you in the mood, flick on this playlist that you guys helped to pull together over on Facebook. It was themed on the best way to kick off your adventures, and it’s a firm favourite on the turntables at STA Travel Towers.

So, now you’re in the mood, let’s move on to the main stage, with a scoot through Europe’s best music festivals.

7 Exciting After Hours Destinations

In a dark dark town there was a dark dark street, in the dark dark street there was a dark dark hostel, in the dark dark hostel there were dark dark stairs, down the dark dark stairs there was a dark dark dorm, and in the dark dark dorm, some travellers lived!

If you didn’t grow up with The Funnybones theme tune, you are probably quite confused by that opening sentence, so I’ll quickly gather myself and get to the point: night time.

It’s dark. It’s cool. It’s sexy. That last one, I’m happy to debate over a beer one night.
