5+ Unique New Zealand Experiences

How many times have you heard, “There’s nowhere like New Zealand”? Guess what: there really isn’t. New Zealand is one of the most creative and forward-thinking destinations, and currently ranked on the Global Peace Index as the second most peaceful country in the world (it was number one in 2010, but someone sneezed).

But what is it that makes New Zealand so unique? Is it the steaming thermal landscapes of the North Island? Is it the thrusting coastline? The perfect mountains? Perhaps those cool looking glaciers…

Perhaps it’s their can-do spirit, that’s spawned innumerable champions: from land speed records to mountain climbers; wood choppers to heroines of women’s rights.

High Five… New York State!

New York City is one of my favourite cities in the world. It’s exciting, buzzing, there’s always something going on, and I can pretend I’m in an episode of Sex and the City. When I’m there, it’s hard to remember that there’s a world that exists outside NYC.

You throw us a photo of your bungee jump using the hashtag #bungeeeee (with 5 e’s), including the location and — most importantly — the height, and we’ll add up the total height of all of your leaps in a series of death-defying blog posts.

Ask the Experts: Adrenalin junkie

Another week, another tough travel question for our Experts. I’ve got a good feeling about this week, not least because we’ve got a new member of the panel this week – let’s give a big Ask the Experts welcome to Paul from STA Travel Aberdeen!

This week’s question comes courtesy of Maya from Surrey, who’s on a bit of an adrenaline high…

I did a bungee jump in New Zealand last month, and now I can’t wait to get my next adrenalin fix! Have you got any ideas of what I can do next, and how I can combine it with some travelling? Maya in Surrey

Ooh, what a question, Maya! Can our Experts satisfy Maya’s craving for adventure? Let’s see what they’ve got.

Sarah Jones at STA Travel Covent Garden says…

If you’re looking for the ultimate adrenalin hit/mega scare factor, Maya, then you should go shark cage diving. Yes, this quite literally is diving in a cage in an ocean of fearsome great white sharks.

We’ve finally had a bit of sunshine in the UK, and it seems that it’s got one of our Blog readers all hot and bothered. She wants to cool off in style, and head into the depths of the ocean. But wait, I’m getting ahead of myself; let’s hear this week’s question:

I’d like to learn to scuba dive; it doesn’t need to be the cheapest, but where do you recommend for a good blend of everything? Hayley in Liverpool

Can our Experts find Hayley a top diving course, in a location worth getting in a wet suit for? There’s only one way to find out…
