Cebu and Bohol

Cebu and Bohol, perching in an island group known as the Visayas in the southern Philippines are every bit a beach bum's dream. Travel from colourful Cebu City to a slow-paced paradise, where white sand and 'chocolate hills' are juxtaposed with crystal clear waters home to whale sharks...

Top things to do in & around Cebu

  • Bohol's Chocolate Hills
Plonked in the centre of Bohol, these 1000+ grassy mounds of earth turn brown in the country's dry season, lending them their rather alluring name... We promise you, these hills look like nothing else in Southeast Asia, if not on this earth!
  • Panglao Island's underwater world
Idyllic Alona Beach on Panglao Island offers some of the best diving around Cebu. The azure waters of the Panglao Reef Flat are home to turtles, and if you're lucky, you could even witness a giant whale shark glide slowly by!
  • Living like a local at a Bohol homestay
Take a break from all of the hiking, snorkelling and swimming and get an authentic taste of local life (and cuisine!) by spending time with a local family. You'll be giving back to their community at the same time.
  • Mactan Island
Only a few miles outside of Cebu City, Mactan is the ideal escape from Philippines' sixth largest concrete jungle. You can dive, snorkel, paraglide, or simply relax with a cocktail on one of Mactan's many pristine beaches.
  • Dolphin watching in Pamilacan Island
Tiny Pamilican Island, south of Bohol, is a popular spot to spot whales, whale sharks, manta rays and pods of dolphins.
  • Visit the tarsiers
Shy, and tiny with huge bug eyes, tarsiers, known locally as mawmags, are endemic to Bohol. Visit the sanctuary near the chocolate hills and decide for yourself whether these funny little critters are more cute than they are just plain weird!

Getting to Cebu

Cebu is a perfect jumping off point for exploring Bohol and the beautiful Visayas. It's a major airport in the Philippines, so you can fly there from anywhere. There are several flights daily from Manila, as well as other international airports in Asia, such as Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur. Cebu is also the Philippines' busiest sea port, so you can pinch the pennies and catch a ferry to the island from pretty much anywhere too.
