Langkawi

Langkawi

If you're looking for a rural Malaysian beach break, then Langkawi could be just what you're looking for. Officially known as the Jewel of Kedah, this archipelago of 99 islands is a classic paradise, with clear turquoise waters, white sand beaches and stunning jungle. Take some time out to relax and soak up the laid back island lifestyle, treat yourself to traditional Malaysian cuisine, and take in the views from one of many beach bars.

Top things to do in Langkawi

  • Langkawi SkyBridge
Suspended above the Machinchange mountain, this is the longest free span and curved bridge in the world. It hangs 100m above parts of the jungle that you can't get to otherwise!
  • Pulau Paya Marine Park
Go under the emerald green waters and in to the underwater observation chamber to get a great view of the marine life, or throw on your snorkelling/diving gear and hop into the water yourself!

  • Langkawi SkyCab
Much like the suspension bridge, this takes you over the jungle around Machincang Mountain, and climbs rock that is over 550 million years old!
  • Art in Paradise
It's the second largest 3D art museum in the world, located in the Oriental Village of Langkawi, and has 105 interactive art pieces and an optical illusion zone.
  • Seven Wells Waterfalls
Seven natural pools feeding in to seven different waterfalls - climb to the top through the jungle of Mount Mat Cincang and go for a swim in each of the pools on the way down.
  • Street Food Night Markets
There's a different one every night in Langkawi, so there's plenty of opportunity to get those taste buds excited - we recommend the seafood!

How do you get to Langkawi?

There are a few different ways to get to Langkawi, the easiest being by plane to Langkawi International Airport. You can get direct flights from Singapore, and if you're travelling from elsewhere in Malaysia you can get the train to Alor Setar or Penange and then take a boat ride to Langkawi.
