About Victoria

cheap flights to melbourne

Melbourne is an exciting cosmopolitan city with world class museums, zoos and galleries, international sporting events, edgy bars, eclectic restaurants, colourful markets, funky cafes and boutiques.

My favourite experience
"Driving along the Great Ocean Road was one of the most picturesque but equally exciting bits of my whole trip. Stopping off to see the sleepy koalas en route and then lifting off in a helicopter for an amazing aerial view over the 12 Apostles is a memory that will stay with me forever. And to top it all off was a spectacular sunset. In a massive contrast to the bright lights of the East Coast this was my little bit of paradise found..." Sophie, Stamford
The weather
There’s a common saying that you can experience all four seasons in any one day in Melbourne. For the rest of the state, however, the climate is characterised by a range of different zones. The extremes are in the northwest Mallee region(dry and hot) and the alpine snowfields in the northeast. The coastal strip is generally wetter. Climate changes across the state are reflected by changes in vegetation: Mallee scrub in the northwest, irrigated plains in the north, the wetter grazing lands of the south and forested mountainous northeastern Victoria.

Perfect picture
It’s gotta be the Great Ocean Road. Get those cameras out, charge up your batteries and figure out what all those whizzy bits do. You’ll be snap happy for hours on end.

Useful Info
Victoria is the home of Aussie rules, with 10 of the 16 Australian Football League clubs based in Victoria. The Grand Final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground is traditionally held on the last Saturday in spring-like September.

Useless Info
