Flexible flights, tours and payments

Need a break from 2020, but worried your plans might change? With our low deposit scheme, you can pay the balance of your flight 10 weeks before departure. Plus, with MultiFLEX date change passes, lifetime tour deposits, and one date or destination change on new bookings made by 30 September 2020, you can change or postpone your trip if you need to. T&Cs apply.

Following the rules

While on the road and at the airport, you may be asked to take extra precautions. For example, to wear a mask on an aircraft or on public transport, or to take a COVID-19 test at a border crossing. Please do not be offended. Respecting these local laws will help to keep you safe. Plus, it is this collective effort that is allowing us to start to travel and explore the world again.

Staying in good health

Just as at home, there is a risk of exposure to COVID-19 when you are abroad. We ask all our travellers to be responsible, and only travel if you are in good health. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has advised that people over a certain age or those with underlying conditions may be at a greater risk, so please follow medical advice before travelling.

Taking responsibility

In these changed times, we all have a responsibility to keep ourselves and each other safe. We ask all our travellers to adhere to the personal hygiene practices recommended by government health authorities and the WHO. For example, guidance on hand washing, the use of hand sanitiser, and ensuring that you carry enough face masks and gloves for your trip.

Lifetime tour deposits

 

 

To secure a place on a tour you will be required to pay a non-refundable deposit per person, per tour. The deposit amount varies depending on the product and supplier and in some instances full payment is required at time of booking. The deposit is taken as part payment towards the full price of the tour. Upon receipt of the deposit your tour space and the price will be confirmed. Cancellation of the tour will result in loss of deposit, with the exception of G Adventures (Lifetime deposit) and Contiki (FlexDeposit). Changes to the tour booking will be subject to the price of the product(s) at the time of change but has no effect on the deposit already paid The original price and availability cannot be guaranteed. At the time of booking you will be notified of when full payment is due, this will always be prior to departure from the UK. Failure to meet this payment date will result in the tour booking being cancelled with loss of deposit.

Additional Information about tours from specific suppliers:

Contiki (£60 deposit) - FlexDeposit: Your deposit (excluding flights and any additional deposits) can be used as credit towards booking a new Contiki trip. Only one deposit amount can be credited per trip, they cannot be combined, however multiple trips can be booked using multiple FlexDeposits. Valid on all Contiki trips 7 days or longer until you turn 36 (subject to availability). The deposit can also be gifted to family or friends within 5 years of the original booking. FlexDeposit has no cash value and is non-refundable. All other conditions not mentioned in this section continue to apply as described above.

G Adventures (£100 deposit) - Lifetime Deposit: Your deposit is protected for life and may be applied towards payment of a deposit on another G Adventures tour (of equal or greater value, but not to the same or similar dates of travel). Alternatively, you can gift it to someone else to use. The deposit has no cash value and only one Lifetime Deposit may be applied per person per product booked. All other conditions not mentioned in this section continue to apply as described above.

 

 

Get one date or destination change on new bookings

 

 

  • Is applicable to all new bookings made from 1 May 2020 to 30 September 2020 only.
  • Permits 1 change pre departure. This means you can amend your dates and or destinations once collectively.
  • Offer is only available on flight only and package trips.


For Package Trips:

This offer is available for bookings made between 1 May 2020 to 30 September 2020 for trips departing before 31st December 2021.

We are allowing one change for your booking, you can amend your date and/or your destination once. These amendments have to be done at the same time. This offer removes STA Travel administration fees and charges in relation to the change.

Whilst we are allowing you to make a change to your package, you will still be liable to cover any cost increase through airline and land partners due to increase in airfare, taxes and date price changes.

You can amend your trip to depart up to 31 December 2021.

You must make the relevant changes 6 weeks prior to your original departure date. Changes made within 6 weeks of original departure date will incur STA Travel and Supplier charges outlined in your booking terms and conditions.

Changing travel arrangements at the last minute is likely to mean there is a higher price difference, so we recommend making changes as early as possible.

This offer is available on selected flights and land products only. Your trip must include a Blue ticket and/or selected land partners – please ask your Travel Expert for details on the airlines and accommodation/ tour partners included in this offer.

For Blue ticket eligibility, this offer is valid for full time students and youth travellers under 31 at the time of travel.

All changes made after the offer has been applied, will have normal terms and conditions applied.

Exclusions:

  • Name changes are not permitted
  • You can only use this offer to make a change to your booking once
  • You cannot use this change offer on cancellations
  • Voucher cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer
  • Voucher cannot be redeemed online, only by contacting our call centre


For Flight Only:

This offer is available for bookings made between 1 May 2020 to 30 September 2020 for trips departing before 31st December 2021.

This offer is available on Blue Ticket economy airfares only.

Multiflex

 

 

We will only sell you a MultiFLEX Pass if you have changeable flight tickets as part of your itinerary. If you have lots of flights (e.g. on a round-the-world trip), you may have some tickets that aren’t changeable and other tickets that you can change. Please confirm with a Travel Expert before purchasing that you are on an eligible ticket. If you have purchased your flight ticket and MultiFLEX Pass online, we will contact you if your flight ticket is not eligible. Making date changes (even on changeable tickets) usually incurs change fees and sometimes there is a difference between the fare for your original ticket and the one you want to change to. Your MultiFLEX Pass means that you won’t pay change fees, but you will still need to pay any fare difference if you want to change to a more expensive flight, or there are additional taxes which apply. Changing flights at the last minute is likely to mean there is a higher fare difference, so we recommend making changes as early as possible.

There may be instances where you have purchased the Multiflex pass in conjunction with a ticket which is subject to a schedule change by the airline. In these instances, the airline may take ownership of the ticket and standard airline date change fees will apply. This means that the Multiflex pass can no longer be utilised for this flight so the Multiflex cost will be refunded in full to you, unless you choose to retain it to be used with other flights as part of your itinerary.

MultiFLEX Passes can only be redeemed for date changes on flights booked as part of the named passenger’s original itinerary. MultiFLEX Passes are not transferable. A new trip requires a new MultiFLEX pass. All date changes are subject to availability and ticket conditions. MultiFLEX Passes do not change the rules of your purchased ticket, e.g. maximum stay validity or booking class. For example, if your ticket only allows you to stay for a year, then you can’t change to a date beyond this point using your MultiFLEX Pass. Please contact your Travel Expert for more information about this, e.g. the maximum length of stay on your ticket. The MultiFLEX Pass is only valid in conjunction with selected economy class tickets.
