Travel Guide

Welcome to Adelaide, where the weather is good, the wine is tasty, and the landscapes are incredible. A lively city with a great bar and restaurant scene, laid back lifestyle, and culture hub, you'll soon understand why the locals dub it 'Radelaide'.

Places you don't want to miss in Adelaide and South Australia

  • Adelaide's central market
Adelaide is well-known for being a foodie haven, and the Central Market is one not to miss. It's got over 250 stalls with loads of different food and drink options - there's no such thing as too many cheese samples.
  • Coober Pedy
Welcome to the underground town, aka the Opal capital of the world.  About 60% of the population live in underground dugouts. There are also several underground hotels, B&B’s, gift shops, a casino, museums, and a pub.
  • Peel Street, Adelaide
Located in the west end of Adelaide, Peel Street is where the locals and backpackers spend their nights. From casual drinks and food at a cutesy wine bar, through to a crazy night that doesn't end til 2am. This place is your go-to for a great evening.
  • Kangaroo Island
Just off of the coast lies Kangaroo Island, which is over one third nature reserve. The wildlife park is home to loads of native species like sea lions, koalas, birds, and penguins (and kangaroos, believe it or not!).
  • Adelaide Hills
Get into the hills for a day trip, or even stop off in the towns for a night or two! Hop from town to town, visiting quaint places like the town of 'Hahndorf' while passing wineries and beautiful scenery.
  • Flinders Ranges
Flinders is a place you'd probably picture if someone was to ask you what rural Australia looks like: long stretches of empty road, mountains, beautiful and varied colours, cattle stations, country pubs, and even emus. The Adnyamathanha people also have sacred caves and rock paintings, so it's a great place to learn about local culture.

How to get to Adelaide

Fly into Adelaide Airport and start your Aussie adventure from there or fly into Melbourne and enjoy the scenic Southern Ocean Drive along the Great Ocean Road and the 12 Apostles to Adelaide. Want to have a full-on outback experience? Drive from Darwin to Adelaide or vice versa and make a pit-stop at Uluru.

Barossa Valley

It's considered a great wine region, despite the fact it's small in size - because of it's perfect temperature (and of course it's tasty vino!). Barossa Valley produces 21% of Australia's wine, so you know it's a good one to visit. If you take a day trip from Adelaide, you won't be disappointed, because not only will you get to taste some great wine, you'll also see the beautiful surroundings - the surrounding towns all have German heritage. Grab a bike and cycle around... maybe before the wine tasting!
