Penguins are, by their very nature, one of the coolest animals on the planet. Watching them waddle around, spreading rumours and scoffing fish is one of the life’s most joy-filled acts, and we’re bringing you the chance to do just that in Australia — and get paid for the privilege!
As part of an unprecedented competition, we’re offering you the chance to live like an Aussie, and win one of seven dream jobs, including a job as an Environmental Assistant on Phillip Island, off the beautiful shores of Victoria.
You could be working with someone like Jarvis, who you’re about to meet in this short video about life amid the Penguin Parades of Phillip Island.
More information on the prize!
If you win this incredible prize, you’ll not only score a paid job for four weeks, but we’ll hook you up with return flights, and a 12-month visa to continue your Working Holiday in Australia (T&Cs apply).
You’ll be working with the friendly team at Phillip Island Nature Park, on one of Australia’s most popular wildlife attractions: the Phillip Island Penguin Parade.
Phillip Island is home to one of the largest little penguin colonies in the world, as well as to koalas, seals, and wallabies.
Every evening, as the sun goes down, wild little penguins emerge from the sea and schlep across the beach at Phillip Island to their cozy sand dune burrows.
And it doesn’t stop there! If you win this job, you’ll conduct conservation work across three major environmental attractions — the Penguin Parade, Koala Conservation Centre and Churchill Island Heritage Farm.
So in a nuthsell, every working day, you’ll spend time in the field with rangers, and discover heaps about Australian wildlife and the Aussie bush. Too easy!

Working Holidays in Victoria
Remember, the prize includes a full 12-month working holiday visa, so after enjoying your stint on Phillip Island, explore more opportunities around Victoria!
The state’s edgy capital, Melbourne, hosts some of the world’s biggest events, including the Grand Prix, Australian Open and test cricket, so hospitality jobs are aplenty throughout the summer. That’s before we mention the city’s 850 cafes and bars!
Melbourne also offers up some of the best work opportunities in the banking, finance, nursing, hospitality and teaching sectors, as well as call centre and nanny work.
For more hospitality jobs, enquire along the Great Ocean Road and Phillip Island throughout the peak season, from December to April.
In regional Victoria, look for fruit picking work in the state’s famous wine and produce regions, the Yarra Valley and the Mornington Peninsula, especially from November to May. In contrast, the eastern region of Gippsland offers up plenty of vegetable picking work from October through to April.
Finally, for some of Australia’s most unique experiences, look at the unique opportunities of WWOOF (Willing Workers on Organic Farms), or Conservation Volunteers Australia who focus on opportunities such as trail maintenance in national parks.
Live like an Aussie, and grab this opportunity while you can!
