From the might of the snow capped Andes, to deep blue volcanic craters, to colourful markets, colonial Spanish architecture and exotic Amazonian jungle there’s a huge amount to explore and experience.

Our Favourite Five Experiences Ecuador Has to Offer
Explore the Amazon Jungle
Ecuador is often over looked when planning an adventure to the Amazon. The likelihood is Brazil and Peru would be the first 2 places that would spring to mind as the best places to target your trip.
But, in terms of wildlife, Ecuador is home to one of the most populous areas of the Amazon. It’s home to amazing wildlife such as anacondas, turtles, crocodiles, monkeys, river dolphins, more than 515 species of birds and piranha.
Found at the foot of the Andes mountains, within the heart of the Amazon, is Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve. Stay here and go piranha fishing, night trekking, kayaking and visit local jungle tribes for the ultimate jungle experience.

Trek an Active Volcano
Ecuador’s capital city Quito sits higher than any other capital city in the world at 2,800 metres above sea level, and yet it still sits in the shadow of Cotopaxi one of the world’s tallest active volcanoes.
If you’re feeling up to the challenge it’s a 5,897 metre trek to the top, although less taxing, and much more fun, is the option to get a lift up near the top and mountain bike back down!
Trekking an active Volcano. travel doesn't get much more exciting!
One of the world’s most legendary spots thanks to their part in Charles Darwin’s Theory of Evolution, the Galapagos islands are swarming with interesting and charismatic wildlife.
Colonies of seals line beaches and rock faces and turtles swim in the brilliantly blue oceans not far off the coast, completely unfazed by the presence of interested and excited travellers.
The islands are one of the most bio-diverse places in the world and you can’t help but get caught up in the excitement of just being there. A trip such as a 6 day Explore Galapagos trip will help you to see all the best bits.

Get Busy in Banos
The adventure capital of Ecuador, Banos is really cool spa town in the centre of the country, surrounded by mountains and beautiful, rocky waterfalls. There are loads of adventure activities on offer and depending on how brave you are, you can try your hand at quad biking, bungee jumping, mountain biking, horse riding, trekking, rafting and loads more.
Once you’re all ‘activitied out’ spend time chilling in the natural thermal hot pools and taking in the incredible scenery; there are some spectacular views of the Amazon basin to be had just outside of the town – so whatever you do – don’t miss that.
Plummet head first into Ecuador - but don't worry you'll bounce back up again!
Spend a fulfilling few weeks on a volunteering project such as Camp Ecuador living alongside rural communities in the Amazon, Andes and Pacific Coast helping them to improve their own living standards.
During your time you’ll be able to make a real difference in the preservation of wildlife habitats and improving animal welfare, as well as helping in schools, improving community facilities and with environmental and assisting with conservation projects in the local community.
It’s a fantastic way to experience a way of life about as different from our own as you can possibly get, so if it’s a culture shock you’re after, and an opportunity to do some good for those who are so hospitable to us on our travels, this is the perfect option.
