Travel Guide

The capital city of Queensland is a great place to base yourself while you're living the Australian dream, and it has a lot to offer: tons of bars and restaurants for foodies, casinos and a thriving nightlife scene for partygoers, galleries and museums for culture lovers, and even a man made beach overlooking the skyline for those that just want to top up their tan! Not only this, it's perfectly located too, with the Gold Coast and Australia's Nature Coast right on it's doorstep.

Places you don't want to miss in Brisbane and Queensland

  • Daintree Rainforest
Located in the tropical north of Queensland, this is one of the three oldest rainforests in the world, and is unbelievably stunning.
  • Mount Coo-tha Lookout
Love a great city view? Then Mount Coo-tha should be on your agenda when you visit Brisbane. Head up there for the sunset and enjoy the panoramic views of the CBD.
  • Noosa National Park
You've got loads of walks to choose from at Noosa National Park, but we recommend the coastal walk, where you'll be taken to tons of beautiful bays and beaches.
  • Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary
This is the world's first and largest koala sanctuary, but not only do they care for koalas, they house kangaroos too!
  • Springbrook National Park
This is a one for Instagram. It's right in the heart of the Gold Coast Hinterland, where you'll find waterfalls, caves, and an ancient volcano - with incredible views.
  • Moreton Island
A perfect day trip from Brisbane, this popular island is great for paddleboarding, kayaking, diving around the Tangalooma Wrecks (a group of 17 sunken boats), snorkelling, or even just chilling on one of it's beautiful beaches.

Top things to do in Brisbane

brisbane cbd
Brisbane CBD
Not to be forgotten, the centre of Brisbane is actually where a lot of backpackers hang out. Scattered with hostels, bars, shops and restaurants, Brisbane CBD doesn't close down when businesses shut for the day (like some other Aussie cities). It's actually a bustling hub with stuff going on all the time, from street festivals to live buskers and great nightlife.
Southbank Brisbane
South Bank Parklands
Just across the river from the skyline, is a stretch of land full of bicycle and walking tracks, BBQ areas, parks, a man made beach, and a load of bars and restaurants along the waterfront. You'll often find markets popping up here on the weekends, outdoor cinema experiences, and even firework displays. It's where everyone flocks to in the sunshine!
Fortitude Valley
Fortitude Valley
Looking for a good night out? Then the Valley will show you how it's done! It's full of clubs, bars and pubs - catering for lovers of house music through to rock. Not only is the area great at night, it's also great for a spot of boutique shopping and it's home to a pretty impressive Chinatown.
