Don’t let the name mislead you, you won’t actually find many flowers on the island of flowers. It was rather named for its stunning natural beauty of mangrove forests, rolling rice fields, active volcanoes and sandy white beaches. From Flores you can dive in colourful waters and explore Komodo National Park. If Bali gets too busy, Flores can be the perfect place to escape the hustle.
Wake up with a ginger coffee, staring out as the sunrises over the three brightly coloured volcanic lakes, that look as if people have just poured paint into the craters, it's that vivid! The volcano is close to the remote town of Moni, a place surrounded by rice paddies in rural Indonesia.

This uninhabited island is located 5km north of Flores, and it's the ideal place to go snorkelling. Think typical paradise island: white sandy beaches, clear ocean, fringed by palm trees.
The best time to go to Flores is in the dry season that runs from May through to October, though Flores is beautiful all-year round and blossoms in the rainy season that runs from November to April.
