Travel Guide

Much more than just Las Vegas, Nevada is a desert landscape waiting to be explored. From hiking national parks and paddleboarding across Lake Tahoe, to visiting haunted cities and driving the Extraterrestrial Highway, the Silver State has lots to offer travelers who want to get off the beaten track.

  • Cowboy Country
Or Elko as it's otherwise known, is all about the mix of old and new, and in particular, an Old Western feel. You want to soak up some history? Elko's got it. Want to see what life's like on a ranch? Elko's got that too.
  • Great Basin National Park
If it's national parks you're in to, then Great Basin has to be at the top of your list. And if you decide to camp overnight, you'll be rewarded with the most incredible star gazing session, as Great Basin has some of the darkest skies in the country!
  • Seven Magic Mountains
Want to see an insanely cool art installation? Of course you do! Head to the Seven Magic Mountains art piece near Jean Dry Lake. Absolutely perfect for an instagram shot - colourful stones against a desert backdrop, is there anything more perfect?
  • Highway 50
Time Magazine dedicated nearly a whole issue to this stretch of road: the part that crosses through Nevada is known as the 'Loneliest Road in America'. Just mountains, desert, and miles of road.
  • Las Vegas
Hit up one of the craziest strips in the world. It's got casinos, quirky chapels, themed hotels, and an insane amount of places to get your drink on.
  • Reno
Known as "The Biggest Little City in the World", this place packs a punch with a large amount of casinos and luxury hotels, a theme park, and stunning walking trails.

Best time to visit Nevada

Nevada, believe it or not, is a year round destination. The shoulder season (period between summer and winter) could be considered the best time to travel, with temperatures averaging 25. However, if you're a winter sports nut, Nevada also has a ski season from the end of Nov through to the first week of May.
