Perth Travel Guide

Perth makes the perfect base for your Western Australia adventure. Beautiful weather, great beaches and a knack for laid-back living accounts for the city's youthful glow. Throw in Leederville and Subiaco's glut of restaurants, bars and boutiques as well as Northbridge's vibrant nightlife, and you've got yourself a city that's worth sticking around in. Further out, make for the beachside club scene in Freemantle or surf the breaks in Cottesloe.

Perth's must-visit neighbourhoods

Perth CBD

Situated right by the river and kings park, Perth CBD is a perfect combination of city with nature. Perth is fast becoming a hot spot for the foodie, art and music lover. From the cosmopolitan workers hub, ecclectic Elizabeth Quay to trendy clothing stores, hidden bars and coffee shops. Looking for a cheap bite? Dine with the locals at Viet Hoa in Northbridge for BYO Pho.

Cottesloe & The coast

A drive along the coast reveals a whole host of white sandy beaches to lounge on, snorkel and swim at. By far the favourite is Cottesloe due to accesibility from the city, good swimming conditions and nearby bars, small shops and gourmet beach cafes. Feeling flashy? Sip on cocktails surrounded by beach-chic furniture and the Perth elite at Cottesloe Beach Hotel (aka CBH).
fruit market

This leafy residential suburb is popular with students heading to local bars, 'op shops' (second hand clothing stores) and a weekend market that draws in crowds wanting fresh european pastries, gigantic bowls of Laksa as well as the usual fresh fruit, veg and artisan items. If you're into your aussie rules, then Subi Oval is the place to catch all the footie action.
